First Worn : Animazement 2001
Does Ashura count as a crossplay, as Ashura is an it? Anyway, I more think of Ashura in female terms; so will use she instead of it. I had thought about doing Ashura for a while, but was not going to do her until I found something could use as the necklace - as that is the one piece of jewelry that shows up in the majority of pictures. I finally spotted a necklace at Burlington Coat factory that I could see how to convert to Ashura's necklace. After doing that I used leftover muslin from Zelgadis's cloak to make the main dress. I got some remnent vinyl from Hancock Fabrics to make the belt, arm and leg guards(which vary in size and shape in pics).
After that I started looking at what jewelry to wear. Almost every single time, Ashura is wearing some different jewelry - so just picked stuff out of different drawings I liked. I used the top pic as reference for some of the jewelry, so I had bells around my ankles and also had jewelry hanging at mid leg. I also hunted to find bracelets that would fit my upper arms (which was a pain, as most armlets are made for thin little arms and my arms are far from that). I also had on hath patti hand jewelry that Ashura is wearing in another pic. I may not wear the hath patti next time, as at least in some pictures it clashes with the other upper jewelry (but several people commented on them as they are interesting). Those earrings are killer, but the weight of them is a deterrent. I also had the hair ornament in my hair, but it was so far back on my head you don't see it in pictures. It was made out of model magic, covered w gold foil with red acyrlic jewel glued to the center. I will try to get the ear tips blended better next time.
You can hear me coming in this costume, as the jewelry at my ankles, legs and ears have bells. People were wondering who was causing the racket.
