First Worn : AWA 8 (2002)
Awards: Best Technical at C-kon 2002
Another outfit done with no pattern. Material was cut and draped wrongside out on dressform and went from there. The hardest part of this was finding the outer dress material. I had seen this dress done a few times before, but always in red. Outer dress was red in promotional material, but when watch the movie outer dress is a salmon pick color. For the longest time the only appropriate shaded material I could find was a velvet which didn't want to use for outer dress. Fortunately shortly before AWA was at retraining site several cities away and came upon an appropriately shaded taffeta there. Set to in a marathon session of sewing to get this done. Hadn't made ruffles before, ended up I really liked the look of the ones on the bottom.
This dress takes a long time to iron. When I wear the dress, I use both a hoop skirt and a crinoline with it to have the fullness it needs. I also use hair extension to get my hair to look like Eva's. Currently I am on the lookout for larger cameo earrings, as mine look like hers but are too small.
Materials used: pink taffeta, red velvet, white muslin for inner sleeves with lace edging. poly frill trim for neckline
