First Worn : AWA 6 (2000)

When I decided to do a RoseBride dress, I immediately decided on Kozue's - as I love the colors. I then started looking for pics of other people who cosplayed her in the dress but couldn't find any. I first wore Kozue in Fall of 2000. Several other versions of the dress have appeared, but it was nice to actually be the first one around to do a certain costume.

This was the first time I used a pattern for a costume, though I had to modify the top quite a bit. I started with a medieval tavern wench pattern. I didn't have to change the skirt much, except for the waist band. I used the vest part of the pattern as the base of the top, taping on newspaper to it to get it to the shape of the rosebride jacket.

The epaulettes are foam from an old cushion with yellow material sewn over it. The ball at the end is a fabric covered wood bead. I could not find tassels in the color I wanted, but eventually found some furniture fringe in the right color. I took a thin strip of the green skirt ruffle material and slowly spiral sewed the fringe to that starting from the bottom to make my tassel, threading the top part of the material through the bead and sewing it to the bottom of epaulettes. All the green glass jewels I saw were too dark, so ended up getting clear glass half marble and painting the back of it the appropriate shade of green. I then nested that in paper clay and painted that yellow. Jewel attaches with velcro. Originally the triangle under the jewel was covered foam, but I didn't like the way it looked. Redid triangle out of model magic, and covered that with material and velcro it on. The crown I originally used I picked up before Halloween, it is gold with sequins - but main drawback was it was only 3 pointed and it didn't match in with yellow of other pieces. I took and formed model magic over the crown, extending it and gave it 5 points. I then hotglued yellow material over it.

Originally, I used just a hoop slip with this outfit, but the hoops showed up too much. Later I used a crinoline over the hoop at a small setting, and at AZ onward I left the hoop at home and just used the crinoline.
