First Worn : AWA (1997)
Nuriko's court robes have gone through 2
versions. The first was thrown together for AWA in 1997.
In 2000, I dumped most of the pieces to make a more
accurate outfit for Animazement.
For the first version, I hadn't sewn anything in
years and only had a week before AWA happened. So,
started scrounging for pieces to use with Nuri.
I made the outer robe(badly), the inner robe was
from Madame Butterfly Halloween costume. The belt
section was a doubled up skirt that I liked color of and
then a gold lame belt.
Didn't have a purple wig, so got a gray wig and colored
it(halfway successfully). Wore some east indian earrings (that
kept catching in the wig, and 1 finally broke at AWA).
I redid outfit in 2000, but still needs some work. Still
used original outer robe but sewed fake ermine to look
more like Nuri's outer robe. I then made orange(it looks red in some pics) and pink
inner robes, and the green belt material. I did those
pieces partially on sewing machine, first time I had ever
used one so was trying to get the hang of it. Used gold belt
already used with Miaka costume. Tried making more accurate
tiara, but looked bad. So, stuck red jewel in middle of original
tiara to get it closer to right look. Found good match for
Nuri's earrings at Kmart. Got a purple wig, but
the color of it was way brighter then picture had been on the web.
I wore the wig for awhile, but I am so pale and it was so bright
it took over. I ended up taking off the wig and am currently
trying to get it to dye a darker purple (w moderate success).
